Jul. 31st, 2006 09:55 pmnot talking to the New York Mets. I knew they were going to mess up the team as the trading deadline approached, and somewhere in my heart knew that it was going to be Xavier Nady that was going to be traded, but as the deadline approach and no deal materialized, I began to hope.
Then my dad had to go spoil everything today by telling me that they traded him away for a relief pitcher. A relief pitcher! What makes me feel really bad for him is the fact that he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates, who are dead last, I believe. I mean, imagine yourself, top of the league, dreams of championship playoffs for a good four months, and then, pff, gone, and you are so far from the championships that you might as well not go to work. Gee, thanks alot Mets.
Needless to say, it is lucky that they aren't playing tonight because I would have strong words for them. Very strong words.
