ladybranwen: (journey's end)

I think something is wrong with me. But if I think too much on it, like I did this morning, I might almost pass out again. So I won't. And deny a potential problem might exist. That's just how I live my life. I don't like going to the doctor's.

It is also bitterly cold. I went out with Jen to the BPL this afternoon. She had to return books. We were going to go to the Longwood Starbucks and CVS, but since we didn't want to walk that way in the cold, went to their conterparts near Copley. We were crossing the street to Starbucks and Jen lost her favorite hat thanks to the wind. I didn't notice until too late that she had gone running back and had chased it into the street we had just crossed. Luckily, she caught up with it and was not run over by oncoming traffic. A little of Michael's traffic frolicking ability must have rubbed off. Safely reunited, we had some hot drinks to warm us up before heading out in the cold again. I'm very sad that they don't have Chanticos anymore. I only had one once, but it was chocolatly goodness! Their hot chocolate does not compare at all. At CVS, I bought soap.

Tonight, we mocked Van Helsing. Oh gosh! It is Sam West! I really thought it was him as Frankenstein, but Jen had no idea. Too bad he got sucked dry. David Wenham as Carl was probably the best thing about the movie. "But I don't want to go to Transylvania." I'm glad he survived. Whenever I saw Dracula, I kept saying "Good evening" in the hope that he would say it. But he never did. Jen was disappointed to find out that she missed half of the James Blunt concert they had on tv because we were watching the movie.

Tomorrow I have lots of work to do. For as you see, I didn't do all that much work today at all.

Haha, Sam West is in Van Helsing? .... so tempted to netflix it... It'll be good for a laugh at least, yeah?

Well, he's in like the first five minutes of it. So I don't know if that counts as being worth it.

LOL, I see- he's only there for some sort of Dracula/Frankenstein crossover? It took me awhile to realize you said Frankenstein and I was thinking- um... Frankenstein and Dracula don't know each other... ;) But yeah, not worth it, I decided to get Howard's End instead.

He's there to create the Monster, and then he dies. That's it. and I think it's one of the roles that required a moustache, so not worth bothering with since the rest of the movie is so awful.

(not that I've seen it - I let other people tell me it was bad so I could save time and money and move on to good things with Sam in.)

Hmmmm, he creates the Monster then dies... but what is the monster doing there in the first place? Has Van Helsing turned into a Monster Killer Extroardinare? I'm curious since I'm not going to see the movie either. ;)

Well, Dracula needs the Monster's energy to hatch his millions of babies. Except once he sucks the life out of Frankenstein, the Monster is all "Rawr! You killed my creator" and runs off with dead Frankenstein. And is hidden until our hero, Van Helsing, finds him in a cave. He becomes an important piece of the plot by the end. And he is oh so sexy. ::snerk::

you sure they don't have chanticos anymore? we're phasing them out, but we still have them at my starbucks. also, we have brand new cupcakes! our store was given something like 100 specifically to sample to customers. they're really yummy -- you should try one!

Not here they don't. Maybe I need to go to Miami. A week and a half!

Ok, about the T-pass. What I found out is that you need to contact student activities to say that you sold the pass to either me, or whoever else wants it, and the name will be transfered and that person will then be able to collect it. Does that help any?

Sometimes, you just have to watch mockable movies. It's better than mocking people, I suppose.

And yummy Horatio there in your icon.

Personally, I always wanted to run away with Archie. He was my naval officer of choice.

He was Frankenstein. A bit part in the prologue. He dies quite early in the film. But it was still a Sam West moment!

I turned to my friend during the movie and said that I knew that man. She just said that it must be some character actor that is in every movie. She doesn't know who Sam West is! I must at least bring back that episode of HH. Sam West, Archie, Horatio... Yum.

No, I actually have never heard of Pandaemonium before. Hmm, it looks interesting. Is it any good? Worth trying to find?

And of course the library would have it, except it is listed as "lost". Go BPL, I'm so impressed. Well, it is now on my list of movies to watch. It sounds very exciting!

Have you ever seen Pimpernel Smith (or something like that). An "update" of The Scarlet Pimpernel, though set in WWII, and produced about that time, I think. I've never seen it, but a friend at college was talking about it. It seemed like something you might have seen.

No wonder it is lost from the library. Someone didn't want to pay that much. Hmph. Spoils everyone else's fun.

A short synopsis says:
Pimpernel Smith is a 1941 propaganda film, directed by and starring Leslie Howard, which updates the Scarlet Pimpernel story from Revolutionary France to pre-World War II Europe. Under the guise of an absent-minded university professor, Horatio Smith (Howard) helps refugees escape from the Gestapo. After being wounded during a fake archaeological 'dig' for Aryan artifacts near the Swiss border, the professor's students recognize his true identity and enthusiastically join him in his fight. But things are complicated when one of his students brings a mysterious woman into their circle; a woman who is secretly working for the Gestapo. The climatic final scenes involve a game of cat-and-mouse between Smith and his Gestapo adversary, who has been instructed to track down the professor.

If I can't find it anywhere, and it's not a horrible thing to do, I might have to take you up on your offer.

I like the archaeology bit. You can't beat an archaeologist!
