ladybranwen: (River - best day ever)

YAY! I just came back from Serenity because I got to go with Erica, Nina, Robert, and Petey. I have to say that that is the largest movie theatre I ever been in, and it was practically crowded. Apparently everyone who didn't have tickets to the Red Sox/Yankees game wanted to see the movie. Ok, not everyone, but whatever. We got there 30 minutes before the show and it was already mostly filled up. In the front there were quite a few people with their orange Jayne hats on.

And they showed every commercial twice while we were waiting for them to start up. People clapped and cheered for this. I was hoping they would want to show the movie twice, but no such luck. Everyone was also very excited throughout the previews (Narnia and Harry Potter!), so excited that even I found myself clapping at the end of the Narnia one (though I was good and didn't clap at the start of the HP one).

I guess that [livejournal.com profile] ladyshrew said what I would have said. WASH!!! Oh my! He had just received a huge laugh in the audience for his line after landing the plane, and then whoosh! A stake through the heart (how fitting for a Joss Wheedon character). But, Kaylee got her happy ending, I like, or at least appreciated, Jayne more than I think I originally did. What is not to like about a snarky (though sometimes dense) man? Really. For a while there, it looked pretty bad, but you knew that they couldn't all die. I was wondering, however, how were they going to get out of it and beat everyone (and that was before they met the reavers). Silly me for doubting. But it was quite violent with dripping blood off of shiny weapons. Go River!

But it was wonderfully good! And I'm so glad I got to see it with all the other dorky people who love it.

Last night we had a fire drill. It is so strange here, because they tell you what day they are having it, and they don't have to have them at different times like we did in Virginia. The good thing about it, is that means that we won't be woken up at two in the morning. Of course, I was telling Jen that if we had a real fire the firefighters would be using megaphones to tell us not to jump, but to burn. That way the clean-up would be lots neater (charred remains as opposed to squashed body parts on the ground). But only for us fifth floor people, cause we wouldn't have a chance making it down in time. At least not me in the middle of the night. I'm hopeless!

I went exercising with Meredith this morning. And I didn't die! And I actually ran for like five minutes straight without passing out. I'm so good. Haha. After my 30 minutes on the treadmill, I felt like I was floating to the water fountain, and was quite impressed with my way of walking straight. I don't know, it felt funny.

I also had my rather lengthy meeting this afternoon with Matt and Heather for our group project. Now I have another smelling book to read this week. Fun.

I want to join a nunnery. Why can't I be Catholic? Or at least a Roman aristocrat way back when so I can join the Vestal virgins. I want that.

Edit! If you don't want anything spoilery, don't read the comments here, either!

Yes! I can't understand why I didn't like him so much before. What was I thinking?

Truly, it must have annoyed and distracted me. What a diversion!

haha, yeah, Jayne really does seem a whole lot better in the movie than he did in the series. and the whole Wash thing-- definitely quite a tragic and sudden ending for him. (and yeah his whole "leaf on the wind" line is so cute, and then he's dead!) yay for Kaylee's happy ending. I just think it's the funniest thing when she and Simon are sitting there waiting to shoot the reavers when they come in, and Simon more or less says he wants to sleep with her, and she goes "hell with this! I'm gonna live!" hahaha. it's just so funny the way she says it. it's also some much needed comic relief at that moment. and of course Mal was hot as always. and Simon seems especially attractive in the movie. he was always rather cute, but he looks even better now... I think his hair's longer in the movie...
anyway, I'm glad you got to see Serenity and that you got to see it with other dorky people who love it-- I did too! :-)

"other dorky people". Amick, you calling me a dork??? I'm hurt ;-)

OK folks, I've recently popped up in some of Amick's Firefly/Serenity posts as Anonymous, but I'm the one that got her interested it. (And I'm not into LJ, but I am into Serenity and people who are into it - hence the no LJ account)

If you liked the movie, tell folks. Go again, bring friends, family, co-workers. Even those folks who aren't fans of Firefly, you gotta admit it is good story telling.

In the words of one fan (Mudron):
"Let's do it, folks. Spread the word. Wave your arms around, jump up and down, divert power to the navsat, do anything you possibly can without breaking the law (or at least don't get caught) to make this beloved signal of ours GO."

Another Serenity/Firefly fan! For joy!

(this is your reference review partner, btw)

Yay, Firefly! One can never have too many Firefly fans around.

I figured! Who else would randomly stop by here. It's not that exciting.

Did you finish all of the reference books?

We did finish the reference books. They weren't too bad, except for a couple. A couple of them were fairly awful.

I also tried DIALOG last night, and it spurned me. I got the "176 does not exist" error that the one guy in class was talking about. It made me sad. I will try again later (maybe on another browser), and see if it works. Otherwise, do you want to meet up sometime (say, Friday after 12:30?) to do it together? Smith seems to expect us to work in groups, anyway.

Also, I think I shall friend you. My LJ has been a tad drama filled lately, but I think that is past now. At any rate, it's gone to friends only, so you can't read the post I made about our psycho bee unless I add you.

I feel so behind. I was planning on using Friday for reference day.

I would love to meet up on Friday with you. The only thing is that I have a group meeting at 1 (same group as this monday). Hopefully it won't go too long. Is that too long for you to wait, though? Because DIALOG is scary.

I friended you. Because you are that "superfly". Just like Julie Andrews. And I am highly amused by the psycho bee post. I still need to post about that fun experience. I want to cherish that memory forever!
