Goodbye 2004, well, not yet.
Dec. 31st, 2004 11:11 pmSleeping in late today gave my mother leave to call me a sloth. Although dreaming about losing my two rings and then my bag while at school and waking up to remember that I have jury duty would be cause enough to not call me names in the morning. Of course I then spent too much time reading the paper so we were late in picking up Holly. Mom was taking the two of us to see The Polar Express. I wanted to go see Phantom but it isn't playing in sleepy, little Plattsburgh. The movie was fun, though. More fun than I ever expected. But after watching Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and the director preen over themselves and the movie last night on PBS, it probably was a good idea I didn't see Phantom.
Then I sat around home and read some of Biting the Sun. I sometimes hate when authors throw in slang words in another language for after only an afternoon of reading, I start mumbing about things being absolutely "groshing", for example. Though sometimes it isn't.
The Christmas tree is gone.
We went out to eat at Arnie's tonight where I had some delicious chicken parm. Always a favorite with me. I got into a discussion about children with my mom (a former classmate's mother was there with his newborn child. I don't know where he was.) and I told her one reason I was afraid to have a kid was that they would turn out to be stupid or hate books and learning and then I wouldn't know what to do with them. Then my kid would hate me for forcing books onto him/her. See, it is best I don't have any.
Coming home, I watched some Canadian comedy shows because I miss them and then happened late upon Die Fledermaus. I was quite captivated until they started to introduce modern day people into the show to break into a tango. They lost me there. Do most operas do that in the middle of a show? I've only seen them on tape so I wouldn't know. Still not as much fun as the flying Tosca my opera prof saw, though. Weeeee!!!!
I think that this must be the first year I haven't visited another country, even if it is only Canada. That makes me sad, I really need to travel more. There, let it be resolved. So, here's to a fun and exciting 2005 (although I don't think it could match 2002, and yes I'm stretching back a ways, but oh well, I just don't like Florida).
