It's Florida! and it's cold outside!
Dec. 6th, 2003 09:17 pmMy cd player here has rejected my Scarlet Pimpernel and 1776 cds and I don't really know why. It just won't play them. At least my cd player at home only eats them, but still plays them. So instead of listening to "Slice, come paradise" I am listening to La Boheme. Just not the same.
It is cold outside! My fingers have shrunk down so my "Virtutem forma decorat" ring now fits on my middle and index fingers in addition to my ring finger. Makes me especially glad that I didn't invest in the "Think of Me" ring at The Folger Museum because I tried on the smallest size they had, a 6, and it fit like a 7 cause it went on all my fingers. So, I got the ring I have now, instead. From the National Gallery of Art. That was the day I saw 1776
After our Christmas show they have us stand out in the foyer as people leave the building. Nothing is more lonely than having everyone else around you all chummy and talking to each other because they know everyone, and you know nobody.
And I ask myself, much like Jane Eyre, "Why am I so restless?"
And a funny thing, as I was driving home tonight, I realized that a several houses had on their roofs words spelt out with Christmas lights. I haven't seen this before, but then I realized that down here, they could do that. Because of no snow.
Oh, and a guy at the museum asked me a question and I didn't know. So I told him that I had only recently moved here, so I didn't know. And he asked where I was from, so I said New York. Then he said, Oh, I can hear it in your accent. Right, my New York accent, rather my almost Canadian accent, eh? But, I just smiled and nodded. Better that way.
And, for
ladyshrew something classical from the archives. The writer wrote, "I don't like playing Zantippe to Socrates. So you must be a good correspondent in the future and behave accordingly."
Nos da!
