Do Me On a Wednesday, Please
Nov. 5th, 2003 09:53 pmHave you ever noticed that if you change a lyrics to a song, they tend to stick with you? For example, my friends and I changed the song "Tell Me on a Sunday" to "Do Me on a Wednesday" because Wednesday was the big pub night in Wales. And now if I ever try to sing TMoaS, it comes out all wrong: "Don't want to know what's your name, it won't help knowing... take me to a bed, that's free of disease. Do me on a Wednesday, please." Or, "I want to be first lady, first lady of America" set to "I want to Be a Lady's Maid" from Titanic. And my favorite, "Under the car park, archaeologists found, under the car park, there was a Roman town." Which is from Boardwalk song, I can't even remember the words too that one. That one is based on the Roman town in Carmarthen that they found sometime in the late 20th c, only when they decided to clear off some land for a car park. The car park is now there.
I had choir practice tonight for a Christmas program. I am so stupid for telling the choir director that I *could* sing Soprano II. I sang Sop II for two years in high school and in only one choir I was in. I've been singing Sop I for, well, I guess my whole life. I rebel against not being able to sing the high notes. And tonight, since our choir director was out sick, I sang the high notes. Hah! Try stopping me now!
And I was stupid at work today. I thought, oh, I'll take along "The Two Towers" to read while I take my lunch break. But I arrived at work early, so I figured I could read my book. But then I got carried away, and I was about 15 minutes into my work time before I even noticed... but, but, Eowyn is just about to make her entrance, can't I read just a little bit more. So, the moral of that story is, well, no more storytime for Kristin at work. Ah, the joys of working all by yourself. Quite a problem, really. And I had a woman who called on the phone calling me "sweetheart" today. Just what I needed.
Random Fact: Dw i ddim yn hoffi codi yn y bore. (I don't like to get up in the morning. That is true. Also Dw i ddim yn hoffi coffi but Dw i hoffi smoothio.) But, it's better Welsh than what my friend learned from taking one class of Welsh: Colin Firth dw i? No, Colin Firth do me! (I could say Kristin dw i. And that would mean, I am Kristin.)
