Chinatown bus

So, is anyone up with the Chinatown to Chinatown bus from Boston to NYC and back again? I'm looking for a cheap way to the city in a couple of weekends from now. If you have, or know of anyone who has, had any experience with this, please let me know! I'm hopeless!

And, look! It's a picture of my grandfather back in his younger years. He's the one in the colour photo playing the trombone.

Mwhahaha. Now you know where I got my good looking nose from!

i took the fung wah bus that stops on canal st at the end of the manhattan bridge, and there weren't any problems - i have heard stories of buses overheating, but i don't know if it was this line or one of the others - but you can't beat the price - the train would probably cost at least twice as much - there's also the lucky star line that stops in chinatown, and i think some other line has a midtown stop -

so what's going on in the city? any exciting plans? if you end up spending time in chinatown, you'll have to take a look at pearl river - it's off broadway near grand - you'll also have to stop in ferrara for a cannoli - i think it's off grand between mott and mulberry (maybe?) - wow - i've not been to the city in ages - there're a billion things you should do =) - and i've heard the met has some great exhibits at the moment -

That is amazing how similar the shape of the nose is to yours...uncanny really.

I've taken that bus without any problems, but I've also heard horror stories about it. The only caveat is that it drops you off in NYC china town, so try to figure out how to get to nearest subway stop from there *before* you arrive (or else have someone else meet you there, if you are going to visit friends).

I don't know that much about the bus, but if you are going to be in the city you will have to give me a call so we can have some crazy city fun!! Tea at the American Girl store??

You're going into the city?? Have any exact dates yet? :-)

The Fung Wah bus rolled over on the highway this summer enroute from Boston to NYC, and I think they had a bunch of violations. When it happened, Greyhound (I think actually Peter Pan Lines) dropped their fares... and it looks like they still have some bargains-- ie. round-trip to NYC for $40 from Beantown.

Caveat: I haven't tried it, though please let me know how it works out!

I was thinking October 28th, but it would have been just for the day since I have no place to spend the night and that probably wouldn't be worth the money to get there as I would be mostly on the bus all day long. Argh. I wanted to see a show!

I wanted to see Voyage, but I'm thinking that it might not be worth the price of the bus for just a day trip. Hmm.

Aww, I'm sad that you've decided against it. I'm going to be up there all weekend, mostly to visit with friends. That would've been cool.
